We are hosting 3 opportunities for complementary trainings. Two are vitural and will be held in September, before the conference. One is in-person and will be held on the Monday morning for the official start of the conference. They are great on their own or as a series.

These sessions will assist participants in assessing their current skill levels and encourage further professional development. Participants will:

  • Create a topic-focused icebreaker

  • Identify skills of successful trainers

  • Describe ways to apply adult learning principles

  • Identify the importance of recognizing audience sensitivity in a training

  • Identify different learning styles and delivery techniques for adult learners

  • Recognize effective facilitation techniques

  • Identify the characteristics of effective visual aids

This session provides the opportunity for participants to learn information that will improve their confidence and competence in navigating cultural diversity. Topics of discussion include cultural awareness, cultural sensitivity, and cultural competence, as well as creating an inclusive learning environment through community building. Participants will be challenged to think introspectively as well as consciously considering how to include the many experiences and identities that will be present in training sessions and/or meetings. The content covered will also enable participants to ensure all learners feel respected, valued, and included.
