All the Nationwide USDA Waivers for CACFP (so far)

In light of the exceptional circumstances of the COVID-19 public health emergency, USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) has granted nationwide waivers to support access to nutritious meals while minimizing potential exposure to the novel coronavirus (COVID–19).

Over the past two weeks, USDA has issued waivers to address state agency monitoring requirements, 60 day claims, monitoring, meal pattern flexibilities, parent meal pick up, after school activity, non congregate feeding options, and meal time.

As most recently as April 27, USDA used the authority provided under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (PL 116-127) to issue the following waivers:

  1. Nationwide Waiver of Annual Review Requirements for State Agencies in the Child and Adult Care Food Program

  2. Nationwide Waiver of 60 Day Reporting Requirements for January and February 2020

  3. Nationwide Waiver of Monitoring Requirements for Sponsors in the Child and Adult Care Food Program

  4. Nationwide Waiver of Onsite Monitoring Requirements for State Agencies in the Child and Adult Care Food Program

  5. Nationwide Waiver to Allow Meal Pattern Flexibility in the Child Nutrition Programs

  6. Nationwide Waiver to Allow Parents and Guardians to Pick Up Meals for Children

  7. Nationwide Waiver of the Activity Requirement in Afterschool Care Child Nutrition Programs

  8. Nationwide Waiver to Allow Non-congregate Feeding in the Child Nutrition Programs

  9. Nationwide Waiver to Allow Meal Service Time Flexibility in the Child Nutrition Programs

We are incredibly grateful USDA is acting quickly to provide flexibility during this public health crisis, so that the CACFP community can continue to support food access among our participants.
