Build Back Better - Child Care and Child Nutrition

Updated: Nov 8, 2021

(Updated 11/8/2021)

There has been a lot of talk about Build Back Better and it's roll in transforming early education and child care as we know it. While the President and Congress have been in negotiations about this for a while. last week the Biden Administration released a framework that the administration and most of the Senate agree could pass. Child care and other early education programs made it into the framework with a $400 billion portion. Here are some resources to better explain:

A webinar hosted by the Alliance for Early Success and sponsored by a plethora of early education organization you know shares a lot of information about what is in the framework, it's impact on early childhood education and hear from key stakeholders about what that means.

The framework also includes $10 billion in investments to child nutrition programs. CA Food Banks lays it out here. While CACFP isn't specifically included all of the provisions included in the framework lift up children and families in crucial ways.

Read the framework yourself here.

CACFP community, we're still working to make the CACFP even better with Congress through the Child Nutrition Reauthorization Act (CNR). Join the CACFP Kid Ambassador Campaign and stay tuned to more opportunities for action!
