California Releases Updated COVID-19 Guidance for Early Care and Education

On July 17th, the COVID-19 Update Guidance: Child Care Programs and Providers, was updated. This publication is produced by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) and CAL/OSHA. The guidance provides bulleted points for planning, PPE requirements, cleaning and hygiene, health screenings, arrival procedures, group size and staffing, classroom space and physical distancing and last but not least meal times (Page 9).

LA County Department of Public Health released Protocol for COVID-19 Exposure Management Plan in Early Care and Education Sites. This outlines what to do if a COVID-19 case has been identified at a child care site.

LA County Department of Public Health has also released updated guidance for Early care and education providers - including family child care providers. This guidance includes information about splitting classrooms so that centers can have more capacity but still keep 10 children in one single group with one teacher. It also provides further guidance regarding what to do if infection is identified at the site.

Additionally on July 15th, the California Department of Social Services, released PIN-15-CCP, which tells us that "effective immediately all state wide waivers modifying staff to child ratios are terminated."
