Food Safety in the Child and Adult Care Food Program Online Course

The California Department of Education (CDE) Nutrition Services Division (NSD) announced a new online course focused on food safety in CACFP.


Who Should Participate?

  • child and adult day care center directors,

  • teachers,

  • food service personnel, and

  • family day care home providers.

What Will I Learn?

Participants will learn basic food safety principles, including:

  • steps for proper handwashing and cleaning,

  • cooking foods to proper temperatures,

  • how to prevent food contamination, and

  • additional food safety considerations, such as serving food safely during field trips, power outages, and when pets are present.

In addition, this online course includes a special section on food safety requirements and recommendations while serving meals during the Novel Coronavirus pandemic.
